Originally compiled By Gerry A. Ouderkirk with help from Robert B. Farrow and friends.
This list of over 900 boats was compiled primarily from the Canadian List of Shipping 1970 and later from the Canadian List of Shipping 1956. First printed on July 14, 1995. Second printing October 2004. There is no proof that all of these vessels were built by Russel Brothers or the Russel-Hipwell Engine Co., however, all of these vessels were built at Owen Sound during the period in which this company was active. As Russel Bros. and Russel-Hipwell built over 1200 vessels, this list is incomplete. Further revisions by Robert B. Farrow and Steve Briggs.
Additions and corrections are welcomed.

CASSIOPEIA IV was launched as THE ALICE M. and was still listed as such in the 1970 Canadian List of Ships. Some additional research will have to be done to find out what year the name was changed. Judging by the registration date 1963-04-18 at Toronto would likely be when it was acquired by the Ministry of Transportation. This vessel operates 32km north of Cochrane, Ontario on Highway 579. The ferry service operates approximately 9 months of the year across the Abitibi River. It is replaced by an ice bridge during winter freeze up. Average crossing for the past year consisted of 10,850 vehicles. The service is free.
