M 793 / RCAF AVOCET

RCAF Seaplane tender. 26 feet long, 8 foot beam, 115hp tunnel stern. Weight approx. 4700 pounds. RCAF AVOCET Radiotelephone “Charity X” M.793 1950 – 1965 25-foot steel Aircraft Crash Boat built in 1950. Russel Brothers are known to have built at least two of these, possibly more. All air force marine craft were given a pendant number that commenced with the letter M and the biggest percentage were small dories, scows, barges, workboats, canoes and similar small vessels. This is M 808 (not a confirmed Russel build, but quite possible).
