Owned by Dean Construction Co., Belle River, Ontario. GAO Notes: Advised by Dino Dean in January 2003 that Wayne Dean had been sold American. George Lee notes: Wayne Dean is now named VIRGINIA. Scruffy looking, still painted in Dean colours. Moored at Champion's ferry dock at Algonac, MI. Powered by an 8-71. (Jan. 29, 2006). The Virginia was built in 1946 by Russel Brothers as the fish tug Alice Jean for Franklin C. Oper. In 1957, she was sold to Dean Construction of LaSalle, ON, who converted the Alice Jean to a towing vessel and renamed her Wayne Dean. In 2000 she was sold to Olson Dredge & Dock of Algonac, MI, and renamed Virginia.
Being Canadian-built, the Virginia is unable to perform commercial service for Olson, but she sits at their Algonac dock in good condition.
