GAO notes: Photo of GODON needs some explanation. My friend Maurice Spooner from Bruce Mines gave me this. On the back he wrote "Taken at the mouth of the White River, Lake Superior. Bow name was a joke to my father - not sure what it was about."

While not confirmed, these next two shots are most likely the Godon as well. Maurice Spooner notes (Aug. 15, 2018): "Last time I saw it, it was sitting on blocks at Selkirk, Man. probably in the early 80's. It used to be used up at the mouth of the White River on Lake Superior and when Abitibi shut down rafting there, the company shipped it out to their mill at Pine Falls, Manitoba. Abitibi then sold it to Barren Lands."
Brochet MB Brochet, Manitoba tug boat. Brochet is an unincorporated community located in Northern Manitoba on the northern shore of Reindeer Lake near the Saskatchewan border. There is no year-round road service to the mostly Cree people. A winter road is in place only a few months a year. The tug likely belongs to the Barren Lands First Nation. |
