Hull 333
Builder's plate is stamped 1939, 26' length, 7'6" width. Robert B. Farrow notes: Thought to be either Gort or Chug (Fort Frances, ON May 19, 2004). Both Gort and Chug were owned by Long Lac Pulp & Paper Co. Ltd., Toronto. Details for registered vessel GORT (O.N. 177631) Date of suspension: 2008-03-10. Chug's name and number 177632 draw blanks in the Transport Canada Vessel Registration Query System. These are the only two winch boats listed as having been built in 1939 in the Russel Vessel Listing.
In 2003 Transport Canada listed Gort as being owned by Allan Roulston, Dryden, Ontario (March 26, 1929 – September 4, 2019...Allan Lyle Roulston peacefully passed away on September 4, 2019 at the age of 90). Arden Barnes mentions in 2007 the owner of hull 333 was in prison in Texas. In 2007 Allan Roulston of Dryden would have been 78 and unlikely to be in a Texas prison. I think hull 333 is most probably Chug. |
