March 28, 1969. First ship movement of spring begin along Toronto's waterfront as Raymond Callaghan and his 3-year-old son; Stephen; sit by the shoreline watching the tug Colinette jockey the Montreal freighter Cape Transport in the turning basin. A total of 45 ships wintered along Toronto's 12 miles of berthage and now that spring is here, the giant hulks are beginning to stir into life again.
The tug sank a couple of months later. https://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/news-photo/first-ship-movement-of-spring-begin-along-torontos-news-photo/502824349#first-ship-movement-of-spring-begin-along-torontos-waterfront-as-picture-id502824349

May 17, 1969 The tug COLINETTE sank in Toronto Bay after the hull was punctured while docking the freighter ATLANTIC HOPE at Pier 35. All on board were saved and the vessel was raised and repaired.
Wintering ships huddle together in port. Locked in the icy grip of winter; ships berthed at the foot of Yonge St. for the season look as though they're huddling together to keep warm. Two little tugs are also taking a long rest as the current cold weather coats the city's harbor with ice. They belong to Waterman Services; which uses the former fishing vessel Avalon Voyager as an office. The lakers at the back are loaded with storage grain.

Mid 70s... MAY 12: A shakedown cruise for the newly renovated ferry boat Trillium ended in a shake-up today when two loud explosions were heard and clouds of smoke billowed from the 66-year-old boat's stack. No one was injured in the blasts and there was no fire; but the Toronto fireboat stood by the old paddle-wheeler just in case. Here; the tug Colinette prepares to tow the Trillium back to the safety of her berth. (Photo by John Mahler/Toronto Star via Getty Images). https://www.gettyimages.ca/license/502825679

Getting set for a tug o' boat; Two teams from the Metro police force and Toronto fire department are in the process of muscling up for Toronto's first official tugboat pull next Wednesday at Harbourfront. To get a feet for the experience; Participation staffers organizing the event gave it a preliminary try yesterday. The pull is part of a day-long Crown Life Participation challenge between Montreal and Toronto.

RBF notes: Being rebuilt by Mathews Marine (Port Dover, ON April 4, 2004)
SV notes: Colinette at Nadrofsky's in Port Dover. She was being reconditioned as a tug, but plans changed......see next! George Lee noted on boatnerd (12/18/04): "The plan is for her to become a charter vessel in the south. One rebuilt 12-71 was installed. Even with the Cats, she was single screw. The owners were originally going to convert her to a twin screw tug. The bow was re-conformed for ice breaking. She is the same class hull as the Lac Manitoba, Lac Como, etc. The new house is patterned from the beautiful 90 foot research vessel Annandale."
SV notes: Andy Nadrofsky's "dream project". He and his wife are converting her to a trawler style cruiser for summer use on the Great Lakes and winter use on the Caribbean.
SV notes: docked at Nadro's, Feb. 23, 2006. She will reportedly be used for cruising, possibly in warmer climates during the winter months.

Mark Bowerman comments 4/26/13):"Nomada is a steel tug hull with the superstructure added. I believe the house is aluminum if I remember correctly. She was the cover shot of a Passage Maker not long ago. You have to appreciate those North Sea lines." source: http://www.trawlerforum.com/forums/s36/underway-today-8298-41.html

Will Van Dorp comments 05/03/13):"...two, three, four decades ago she was an austere tugboat called Colinette working in Canada. See addition at the end of this post. Six and seven decades ago she was a Royal Canadian Navy tug that crossed the Atlantic to operate out of unidentified ports in the UK. An hour and some after dawn yesterday I caught these photos, and imagined she was a rough-cut Krogen type trawler, a scaled-down coastal freighter replica, or some hybrid thereof. Who would think she started life 70 years ago on Owen Sound.
