n.b. Matthew Carlson noted this winch boat looks amazingly like the Carmichel boat. Note the air scoops on the aft deck. It is likely these two were built as twins. "Sutherland and Carmichel have been rebuilt to be nearly identical. Same prop even."

They shortened the cabin making a engine bay, and sounds/looks like they repowered it likely with a Deutz air cooled diesel and that would be to blow the hot air outside rather than inside the cabin. There is a smaller one on the port side also. The shorter one is the intake and the taller one the vent. The air cooled engines are nice because you never have to worry about cooling water, but they need lots of air flow to both suck and blow."
