Mac Mackay Collection
Born in Québec City, Mac spent summers on the shores of the St. Lawrence watching ships of all sizes passing.
He moved at an early age to Stratford ON, travelling back and forth for summers in Québec, watching construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway. After relocating to Halifax in 1966 for university, he discovered the harbour. Hung out at tug dock. Still spent summers on the St.Lawrence. Every two or three years he gets up to Montreal via Québec City, Trois-Rivieres, Sorel, and to St.Lambert and Beauharnois. Mac practices architecture in Halifax when not watching ships and trains - both are visible from his office. He has been producing a monthly newsletter about shipping in Halifax for 20 years. |
