Stephen said they are trying to provide a different slant for their patients. "We want to have something for everybody," said Stephen. "The idea is not to be a bulk supplier, but a specialty and quality supplier."
For Stephen, the extra space means he will be able to better practice the part of the profession he likes best, laser surgery follow-up. Part of the reason for his interest in this is that he had laser surgery himself, in 1997.
Optometrists are the ones who work on recovery after the surgery performed from 24 hours post-operation and on. They also make recommendation to an ophthalmologist if surgery is needed.
"I was one of those people who used to wear glasses full-time myself," Stephen said. "After wearing them for 20 years, I don't have to anymore."
He now has about 80 patients he has followed up on after their surgery.
Liane enjoys seeing a patient being awed after their visual needs are addressed.
For Liane, the new facility isn't just a fresh start in a different building, but a fresh start in a different community.
"I can't wait to meet people and show off our new location," said Liane.
