Unidentified Russel Boats
Wisconsin. Jim Munts sent over this photo from the Ashland Historical Society. Consolidated Water Power and Paper was an oufit out of Wisconsin Rapids, which owned Newaygo Timber LTD of Port Arthur and owned the ROCKET and some Russel boats. Consolidated rafted pulp from Minnesota for about fifty years with the tug BUTTERFIELD and later the JOHN ROEN III.
The image was taken in the late 1950's of the Consolidated Water Power and Paper pulp hoist facility. The first boat in the line must be a Russel, which might have been called the "Sugar Loaf" which worked on the north shore and later in Ashland, being built in 1946 and sold off in 1976.
