When patients walk in the front door they will immediately come to the large open reception area. That is where their names will be entered into the database of over 14,000 patient files. This area has also been designated for pre-testing where the power of patient's glasses and the pressures in their eyes are measured.
Off to the side of this area is the waiting lounge. It has an added feature of a computer screen that will have a regularly changing slide show about the office and eye health. This is programmed by Dr. Briggs personally. A children's play area is clearly in view of the seating area so their parents can keep a close eye on them.
To another side of the reception area is Stephen's main examination room. A window that opens into the reception area has been left alone. It was a feature of the Montessori school. Next to Stephen's main room is a glaucoma testing and low vision aids and assessment area.
